The gauge question on small bars
Most 20V and 40V saws and pole heads run .043" gauge; older corded Remington, Worx and Sun Joe saws often run .050". Both look identical from arm's length. A .050" chain will not seat in a .043" groove, and a .043" chain wobbles in a .050" bar. The number is stamped near the bar's mounting end.
Small saws, busy chains
A 10-inch bar spins a short loop past the cutter more times per minute than a long bar does, so small chains dull sooner. That is why nearly every size on this rack ships three to a pack.
