Why a pruner chain has so many links
A 1/4" pitch chain packs its drive links tighter than any other size we cut, so a 12-inch pole bar can take 64 of them. That density is what lets a light pole saw keep a smooth, small kerf overhead without bogging. When you order, trust the link count on the stamp and not the bar length alone: our 10-inch Stihl pole chain has 56 links, the 10-inch 3/8" LP chain next door has 39.
Working above your head
Pole work is slow work. Let the saw feed itself, keep the chain oiled and swap to a fresh loop from the pack as soon as the chips turn to dust. Every chain on this rack is semi-chisel, the forgiving cutter shape that holds an edge when branches carry grit and bark.
