Bought an MS250 or MS251 recently? It probably wears the thinner .050" bar Stihl switched to, and this 23RS 68 loop is cut for that groove: 68 drive links at .325" pitch, with full-chisel cutters.

About this loop

If you bought your MS250 recently and a chain from the old spec would not seat, this is why. Stihl moved the model to a .050" gauge bar, part 3005 008 7017 at this length, and our chain follows it. Saws from 2022 and earlier may still carry a .063" bar, which needs our 26RS 68 loop instead. Full chisel cuts quickly in clean wood and should stay out of the dirt; it is not low-kickback, and we recommend it for experienced users. Part 3C068X is German steel with quenched rivets and chrome-plated, rotary-ground cutters.

  • Made for the newer 025, MS250 and MS251 whose bar reads .050", such as Stihl bar 3005 008 7017.
  • Sized to Stihl 23RS 68, with .325" pitch and 68 drive links on the 18-inch post-2023 bar.
  • Older saws, 2022 and earlier, may still run a .063" groove, which calls for our 26RS 68 loop.
  • Fast full-chisel cutters for clean firewood, carrying a kickback warning; experienced operators only.
