About this loop

Regular chain is ground for crosscutting, and pushed along the grain it tears fibers and leaves a rough, wavy face. Our ripping chain uses a different grind so it leaves a smoother surface on milled lumber. Do not use it for firewood or any crosscutting, and note that it does not meet low-kickback requirements. The .063" gauge suits the heavy long bars that big Husqvarna and Stihl saws run for milling. It comes as a single chain, part 7D3114X, built from German steel with hardened rivets and chrome-plated semi-chisel cutters.

  • Ripping chain for 36-inch Husqvarna and Stihl bars: 3/8" pitch, .063" gauge and 114 drive links.
  • Ground to cut with the grain for slabbing logs and making boards on a chainsaw mill.
  • Not for firewood or crosscutting of any kind; use it only for ripping cuts along the log.
  • Sold as a single chain that does not meet low-kickback requirements, so set up your mill with care.
